Manager Agriculture

ZOA Uganda is an International Christian Non-Governmental Organization [or Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Assistance. Our mission is to restore livelihoods of returnees in Northern Uganda and Karamoja who are affected by warfare, conflict or natural disaster. We operate in eleven countries in Africa and Asia. In responding to community needs, ZOA adopts an integrated and holistic approach. Project activities include among others community development, education, food security, economic development, water and sanitation which are implemented in partnership with other development partners and counterpart structures.
ZOA expanded its operations and activities to Amudat district at the beginning of 2010 and implements programmes in collaboration with returnee Pokot people, civil society organisations and the district local government and other development partners. We wish to recruit within our teams a Manager for our Agricultural project in the Karamoja programme (Amudat district).
Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements activities and/or facilitates implementation of agricultural projects
- Ensures monitoring and reporting of projects in line with donor requirements
- Contributes to preparation and planning of projects and provide input for new proposals
- Motivates, stimulates and supervises projects staffs
- Build and maintains good relationships with local authorities, other organizations and actors linked to the relevant sectors.
- Ensure the main project components and activities which include working with farmer groups, voucher and food -for-work, extension work among others are implemented appropriately.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Agriculture or other relevant field
- At least 3 years successful experience in NGO management
- Willingness to live and work in Amudat
- Good communication, ICT, writing and facilitation skills
- Excellent command of English
- Inventive, creative and enthusiastic person (able to develop the best approach)
- Ability and skills to manage projects in conflict affected
- Experience in working with project cycle management
- Knowledge of Pokot is an advantage
Person profile
This position requires a stable personality who is self motivated and able to works under minimal supervision in a dynamic and stressful environment. Experience with International Funding mechanisms is an added advantage.
