Reporting to the chairman, the General Manager will be the principal officer of the Company and will be expected to provide overall direction to the Company through planning, directing and coordinating activities of the Company.

Major responsibilities include:
1. Developing for the approval of the Board, strategic and business plans, including annual work-plans, budget and performance targets
2. Ensuring effective implementation of the Company’s Strategic Plan
3. Ensuring safe custody and management of the Company’s assets.
4. Providing strategic leadership and direction, including the management and development of the human resources of the Company.
5. Planning, coordinating and implementing all activities of the Company in line with the policies and directives approved by the Directors.
6. Ensuring proper management, operational efficiency and corporate reporting requirement of the Company.
7. Promoting the Company’s image and developing a good working relationship with all stakeholders and partners.
8. Ensuring compliance with Government policies and regulations.
9. Provide advice to the Directors on matters related to the operation of the Company.
10. Monitor and evaluate performance of technical staff and contractors

Required Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate should have practical skills, experience and a demonstrable track record in managing a large and dynamic department or organization. Specifically, the candidate must have:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Water and Irrigation from a recognized Institution a postgraduate qualification in management or other relevant field will be an added advantage.
2. A minimum of 12 years experience in water and sewerage development, management and operations, 5 of which must have been in a senior management position.
3. A sound understanding of the reforms taking place in the water sector in Kenya.
4. Be registered with Engineering Registration Board
5. Computer Proficiency
6. High level of integrity, results-orientation, managerial and administrative skills backed up by a demonstrable track record.

1. Demonstrated initiative and creativity.
2. Excellent inter-personal, communication and negotiation skills.
3. Strong management and organizational skills.
4. Proven people management skills
