Save the Children UK Job Vacancies in Kenya

Save the Children UK is a leading international child rights organization, fighting to improve the lives of children in the UK and 50 countries around the world.

Together with children, we are helping to build a better world for present and future generations by making a reality of children’s rights. Our programming activities in Kenya are in the North Eastern Province (Dadaab, Wajir and Mandera areas) and Eldoret in the areas of Child Protection, Nutrition, Livelihoods and Health.

We are outraged that millions of children are still denied proper healthcare, food, education and protection and we are determined to change that.

We are seeking for fill the following positions in our various Area Offices:

CTC Nurse
(2 positions based in Wajir East. 8 month contract)

Responsible for ensuring every beneficiary receives adequate medical examination, the required and prescribed medication and referral for additional treatment as appropriate and according to established protocols.

Person Specification
A diploma in Nursing and registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya with a minimum of 2 years work experience in community/primary health care and nutrition preferably in an INGO setting.
The incumbent must be conversant with CTC approach to management of acute malnutrition and protocols for management as recommended by the Ministries of Medical Services, Public Health and Sanitation.
Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) Engineer
(1 position based in Wajir East. 8 month contract)

Responsible for the implementation of the proposed ECHO funded interventions aimed at enhancing the water supply and sanitation facilities in the various health facilities in Wajir East as per the health facility needs assessment findings.

Person Specification
A degree in Water and Sanitation Engineering or Public Health Engineering with a strong understanding of project management, experience and demonstrable expertise in construction of water and sanitation systems especially in arid situations including design and construction of water and sanitation systems for institutions.
Excellent understanding of operations and governance issues related to water management in ASAL areas.
Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) Technician
(1 position based in Wajir South. 8 month contract)

Reporting to the WATSAN Engineer, the WATSAN Technician will be implementing the interventions aimed at enhancing the water supply and sanitation facilities in the various health facilities.

Person Specification
A Diploma in Water and Sanitation Engineering or Public Health Engineering and at least two years practical experience in Water supplies, Sanitation and hygiene promotion in NGOs set up.
Experience in Emergency relief programmes in ASAL districts will be an added advantage.
Best Interest Determination Officer
(2 positions based in Dadaab. 6 month contract)

Responsible for the effective implementation of the BID project at camp level and linking closely with the overall child protection work that Save the Children UK Kenya Programme is undertaking in the refugee camps.

Person Specification
A degree in Social work and/or Social Sciences or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year work experience in social work and development-related organisations, facilitating community-based training and awareness.
Knowledge of child rights and protection issues.
Child Protection Officer
(1 position based in Dadaab. 6 month contract)
Responsible for initiating, overseeing and supporting implementation of Child Protection Strategies and activities at the camp level.
Person Specification
A degree in Social work and/or Social Sciences or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year work experience in social work and development-related organisations, facilitating community-based training and awareness.
Knowledge of child rights and protection issues and community based child protection approaches including experience in participatory approaches (PRA/PLA) and child participation methodologies.
Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
(1 position based in Wajir South. 10 month contract)
Responsible for organizing monitoring and evaluation activities, and assist in the management of monitoring information in order to support the delivery of high quality effective programmes.
Person Specification
A degree in Social work and/or Social Sciences or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years work experience in data collection, collation, analysis and report writing.
Health Coordinator
(1 position based in Wajir South. 10 month contract)
Responsible for the overall day to day implementation of the health programme in the district by leading the coordination of health activities in conjunction with the health team, and working closely with the district health management team.
Person Specification
Bachelor of Science degree in health, public health or nursing with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in managing/coordinating of emergency health programmes at district levels and above.
Support Services Manager
(1 position based in Wajir East. 8 month contract)
Responsible for the overall management and co-ordination of Finance, HR and Logistics teams in the field office as well as effective financial and risk management, asset management and financial accountability in the programme ensuring provision of quality support in Finance, HR, Logistics, purchasing and asset management.
Person Specification
Bachelors degree in management, business administration or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years international senior management experience preferably within the INGO sector, experience in project and people management.
Field Finance Coordinator
(3 positions based in Wajir East, Wajir South and Mandera. 12 month contract)

Responsible for managing the finance activities and operations of Save the Children UK Kenya Programme’s computerised accounting systems in the field office in line with Save the Children UK’s financial procedures.

Person Specification
Bachelor of Commerce Accounting Degree or equivalent, a recognised professional qualification in Accounting (CPA, ACCA) with a minimum of 3 years similar work experience within an INGO setting or busy working environment.
Working knowledge of SUN system accounting package will be an added advantage.
