ChildFund Kenya Job Vacancies - Finance Director, Safety & Security Manager and Program Coordinator Careers

ChildFund – Kenya, an International non-sectarian charitable organization dedicated to improving the well-being of children and enhancing opportunities for the development of their full potential wishes to recruit qualified persons to take up the following positions of Finance Director, Safety and Security Manager and three Programme Coordinators.

1. Finance Director

The successful candidate will report to the National Director. He or She will be based in Nairobi with frequent travels to the field

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Provide advice to the National Director on financial matters
Advise the agency on the financial aspects of existing and proposed donor contracts
Review, monitor and enforce the agency financial policies, systems and procedures and initiate appropriate policy developments.
Ensure effective liaison and consultation with the SMT and respective departmental team leaders to enhance agency financial management
Liaison with the Programme Director and SR & Communication Director to ensure that the contract liabilities are collected in a timely manner
Ensure that all donor contracts are managed proficiently and timeliness in reporting is adhered to.
Provide overall treasury, finance and statutory obligation management.
Supervise the preparation and submission of the agency budgets by all departments and ensure that the budgets reflect the agency needs and ChildFund International budgetary requirements
Provide liaison with other departments, sub offices, Regional Office, ChildFund International and ChildFund Alliance members to provide information, guidance, address issues, and to ensure there is an understanding of Child Fund finance requirements and standards
Relay the finance macro direction, for the agency, Region and ChildFund International, to all finance departments and finance managers
Provide leadership in the overall support to CBOs financial plans, budgets, fiancé staffing and policy level financial matters.
Provide leadership on market trends analysis , banking and forex transactions
Ensure the National Office and affiliate CBOs readiness for the annual audits
Provide general team leadership of the Finance Department and ensure internal control compliance
Oversee the timely and monthly preparation of the agency corporate reports.
Perform any other duty as a assigned by the National Director from time to time
Qualifications:

Education:
Undergraduate degree in a relevant Finance field and a Certified Public Accountant with ACCA, CIMA, CPA (K) or any equivalent qualification.
Five ( 5 ) years post qualification experience in a senior managerial position in a reputable organization. A Post graduate degree in Finance is preferable.
Excellent management skills and experience
Strong finance, administration and audit skills
Excellent team building, coaching and mentoring skills
Proven experience in managing multi-sectoral teams
Strong intercultural communication skills
Good computing skills
Experience in large donor grant financial management preferred
International NGO financial management is preferred
2. Safety & Security Manager

The successful candidate will report to the National Director and will be based in Nairobi with frequent travels to the field.

Key responsibilities and tasks
Design the formulation and facilitate the implementation of security policies and procedures
Conduct threats assessments and risk analysis for programs site and design proactive mitigative measures.
Evaluate the quality of safety & security services and make recommendations to ensure optimum security of ChildFund’s assets and those for affiliated CBOs.
Ensure correct implementation of ChildFund policies and standard operating procedures.
Ensure physical safety and security of the National Office premises and enhance access control to the building.
Advice the National Director and Crisis Management Team (CMT) on evolving political and humanitarian situation and assess impacts on ChildFund staff, assets and programs.
Ensure that adequate contingency planning are defined and regularly tested for effectiveness (such as emergency fire evacuation plan etc)
Develop, document, update, and implement the country security plans and hibernation, relocation, and evacuation plans.
Advise management on evolving security & safety aspects on fire safety management.
Capacity-build and organize training of staff on safety & security aspects.
Conduct security induction, orientation, and briefing for new staff and organization’s visitors.
Conduct or coordinate investigation on security incidents that affect ChildFund staff or interests.
Networking and liaise with other security actors including UN, Agencies and local law enforcement agencies.
Liaison with ChildFund International’s Global Security Officer including: providing updates of the security situation in Kenya; seeking advice as needed; and staying updated on best practices and key issues related to security and safety in the aid and development sector.
Desired qualifications & competencies:
Degree in Social Science, Police or Military sciences and a formal security qualification or advanced security management training or its equivalent.
5 years practical field experience in security management position and work experience in an insecure/hostile environment.
Work experience in the rank of inspector or captain or above in either the military/police is desirable.
Experience and knowledge of personnel and organizational security, threat/risk assessment, security management and security awareness in an insecure environment.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Strong report writing, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Effective people management skills, proven training and organizational skills
Flexibility and maturity to work well under pressure.
Previous security management work experience with INGOs in Kenya/ East Africa
A certificate of discharge from the armed forces and a certificate of good conduct
3. Program Coordinator
3 Positions

The successful candidates will be based either in North Rift, Marsabit and Kilimanjaro Clusters. The prospective candidates should indicate the area of their preference when applying.

The successful candidates will provide direct supervision to the affiliate community organization program staff. The Coordinators will report to the Area Managers of their different clusters.

Major Responsibilities and Tasks:
Program planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting. The holder is expected to support the Area Manager in successful implementation of programs /projects that are child centered within the affiliate Community Organizations;
Strengthen the existing monitoring and evaluation system through capacity enhancement for staff and management boards/committees.
Supervising the day to day operations of the projects and project staff.
Enable Affiliate Community Organizations to successfully achieve or surpass planned core outcomes and other relevant and focused key performance metrics;
Coordinate affiliate Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to adhere to procurement , administrative and financial policies;
Support CBOs in building networks and relationships with other organizations and relevant government departments/ministries to influence and foster development
Build and maintain productive & Professional linkages between the CBO’s, area office and other relevant organizations. Represent and speak for the organization in forums related to development within the area of jurisdiction
Carry out other activities and duties as required to support CBOs.
Desired qualifications & competencies:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized University.
A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar or related position with regard to program designing/planning, implementation, supervision and reporting.
Be a results orientated leader who is able to handle heavy work load and able to work overtime and or frequent travel to project sites.
Be good in public relations and be a strong team player.
Have outstanding oral and written communications and relationship skills and;
Be willing to perform other duties as required.
