Scope of the job

The job holder, who will report to the Process Manager, will produce plates to the specified quality; mount plate as per instructions, and prepare for printing process.

He/she will also ensure work instructions; procedures and standards from World Class Manufacturing (WCM) activities are complied with and implemented.

Roles and Responsibilities
Proof read production order, Films and design proof (Reference Samples, Cromalin and Color lasers), to ensure they are correct
Mount printing plates to the sleeves as per production order requirements
Ensure printing plates and films quality assurance
Carry out quality checks of the process as per quality standards instructions
Ensure work instructions, procedures and standards from WCM activities are complied with and implemented
Co-ordinate continuous operation improvement to reduce waste and customer claims
Participate in WCM activities and projects

Qualifications.
Diploma in Printing
Computer knowledge; Word, Excel and Power Point

Handling of chemicals – plate processing

Operate the VTV 100 Printer machine according to specification on the production order
Ensure correct input of data for production statistics
Ensure ink viscosity is controlled to achieve desired shades as specified in the production order
Participate in WCM autonomous maintenance activities or other related projects
Run improvement teams and implement standards from other teams
Take part in 5S activities at the machine area
Approve job produced and ascertain quality of the material as per quality standard specification

  • Provide secretarial support to the KNBS Audit Committee Carry out investigations/special audits on irregularities identified or reported on any wastage of public funds;
  • Conduct periodic Public Expenditure Tracking Surveys (PETS) on specific programmes in different sectors to ascertain economical, effective and efficient utilization of resources.
Minimum Requirements
  • B.Com degree in Accounting or other related areas with over 10 years experience in internal audit in a large organization and a Masters degree in Finance; Must possess professional qualifications such as CPA (K), ACCA.
  • Must be a member of a professional body;
  • Possess knowledge of computerized management and financial systems;
  • Experience at senior level of management dealing with the audit committee and the board;
  • Possess excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with a good sense of judgment and initiative;
  • Experience in managing resources of an internal audit department to ensure delivery on key performance areas in audit and risk management;

Job Title: Printing Assistant
KNBS Scale 7

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Manager, library services, the officer will be performing activities relating to printing.
Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, production and control of assigned printing works;
  • Ensuring security and safety of all printed documents such as survey materials, and questionnaires among others;
  • Maintenance of the printing work log and the work assigned;
  • Carrying out routine machine maintenance;
  • Management of all accessories in the printing room;
Minimum Requirements
  • Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C or its equivalent;
  • Have passed Trade Test I in printing from a recognized institution; A diploma in printing will be an added advantage; 5 years experience in printing work;
  • Be computer literate;
  • Be 45 years or below.
4. Job Title: Senior Manager, Procurement
KNBS Level 3

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Director General, the officer will oversee all activities relating to procurement and disposal of identified assets at the KNBS.
Key Responsibilities
  • Implementation and enforcement in the Bureau of the Public Procurement Act and Regulations.
  • Development of the Bureau’s procurement and Disposals plan and ensuring its implementation;
  • Secretary to the KNBS tender committee;
  • Maintenance of Suppliers and materials data base; Conducting stock taking in the Bureau;
Minimum Requirements
  • Be in possession of a Masters Degree in Finance, Business Administration or any other related area from a recognized institution;
  • Must have a B. Com or related degree;
  • Must have a Professional qualification and be a member of a recognized institute of purchasing and supply;
  • Must have 10 years experience in Procurement and supply management in a large institution
  • Possess excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with a good sense of judgment and initiative;
  • Have a knowledge of computerized management and financial systems
  • Have working knowledge of Public Service procurement regulations
  • Be 50 years or below.
5. Job Title: Senior Officer, (Stores Management)
KNBS Level 6

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the officer will perform all activities relating to Stores Management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure receipt of materials in accordance with specifications and purchase documents;
  • Ensure issuance of materials on approved requisitions;
  • Ensure maintenance of accurate and up to date stores records;
  • Alert Senior Manager, Finance on stock replenishment levels, slow moving materials and unserviceable materials; Conduct regular stock taking exercises;
  • Secretary, Receiving and Acceptance Committee; Capture all stores received and issued in Pastel;
  • Maintain an inventory of office equipment, machines, motor vehicles, furniture and fixtures;
Minimum Requirements
  • Have first degree in Commerce or in another related area from a recognized University;
  • Be a holder of Diploma in Store Keeping, Purchasing and Supply or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Must be a member of a recognized institute of purchasing and supply ;
  • 6 years experience in the procurement and stores field;
  • Be familiar with workings of computerized procurement systems;
  • Be familiar with Public Service procurement regulations;
  • Be 40 years or below.
6. Job Title: Senior Officer, Procurement (Purchasing)
KNBS Level 6

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Manager, Procurement, the officer will perform all activities relating to purchasing of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of tender documents, Request For Proposals (RFP) documents and Request For Quotations (RFQ);
  • Purchase of quality materials at competitive prices;
  • Maintenance of up to date purchasing records;
  • Custodian of purchase documents LPOs, LSOs;
  • Secretary to tender and quotations opening committee;
  • Preparation, circulation and scheduling of quotations;
  • Maintain a database of prequalified Suppliers.
Minimum Requirements
  • Have first degree in Commerce or related area from a recognized University;
  • Be a holder of diploma in purchasing and supply or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Must be a member of a recognized institute of purchasing and supply ;
  • 6 years experience in the procurement field;
  • Be familiar with workings of computerized procurement systems;
  • Be familiar with Public Service procurement regulations;
  • Be 40 years or below.
Gross salary scales for the levels are as follows:-
  • Level 3:-  Kshs. 184,300 – 263,490p.m.
  • Level4;- Kshs.122,610-171,967p.m.
  • Level 6:- Kshs.58,620 – 81,966p.m.
  • Level 7:- Kshs.49,034 – 65,955p.m.
