Preamble
The water sector in Kenya is undergoing major reforms aimed at improving the overall management of the sector. The reforms are premised on the National Policy on Water Resources Management and Development of 1999 and the Water Act 2002.
These instruments have set up institutional and regulatory framework embracing broader principles of decentralization, participation, autonomy, sustainability and efficiency in service delivery.
It is with this background that eight (8) water services boards have been established across Kenya.
Pursuant to Section 53 of the Water Act 2002, the Athi Water Services Board is responsible for the efficient and economical provision of water services within its area of jurisdiction, which covers the city of Nairobi and the districts of Kiambu, Limuru, Githunguri, Kikuyu, Ruiru, Gatundu South, Gatundu North, Lari, Gatanga, Thika East and Thika West.
The Athi Water Services Board, therefore, is seeking to recruit a qualified, visionary and dynamic professional to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible to the Board of Directors, and shall be the principal officer of the board responsible for the overall leadership and implementation of the Board’s decisions and aspirations as may be outlined in the performance targets and strategic plan.
Job Profile
* Providing overall leadership and overall administration of the operations of the Athi Water Services Board under the guidance of the Board;
* Develop short term corporate strategies, for Board of Director’s approval, for effective implementation of the strategies stipulated in the Board’s Strategic Plan.
* Manage internal multidisciplinary teams and external parties to ensure set objectives are met.
* Develop performance standards together with mechanisms for ensuring compliance therewith by Water Service Providers.
* Promote Board’s image and develop good working relationship with all stakeholders and partners in the Board’s area.
* Develop networks and partnerships with development partners and spearhead donor collaboration, fund raising and project development within the Board’s area of jurisdiction.
* Advise the Board of Directors on expansion of business operations, investment planning and development of water service facilities.
* Direct and coordinate the Board’s operations and administration so as to ensure that the various organs of the Board operate in conformity with the overall operational plans and performance targets.
* Advise the Board of Directors concerning future activities of the Board and also on the objectives and policies as they affect the organization.
* Ensure compliance with Government’s policy and regulatory guidelines and directives.
Qualifications and Work Experience
* A Bachelor’s degree preferably in Civil Engineering or a related Water Science from a recognized university;
Or
* A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Commerce or Economics may also be considered depending on a candidate’s work experience in infrastructure development.
* A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
* Must be a registered member of a relevant professional body.
* At least (10) years progressive and relevant work experience, three (3) of which must be at a senior management level in an organization serving a large and demanding public
* Proven experience in mobilization of development and operational funds;
Personal Competencies
* Demonstrated familiarity with donor funded projects and familiarity with water sector management.
* Familiarity with reform programs in commercial or public sector settings.
* Track history of creativity, innovation, self-drive, result orientation and ability to handle a sensitive public.
* Exceptional visionary leadership and negotiation skills with capacity to engage with local, regional and international organizations.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and team capacities and high professional ethical standing.
* Self driven and capable of working under minimum supervision;
* Sound knowledge and application of public finance management and public procurement procedures;
* Understanding of the cross cutting issues in the Board’s area of jurisdiction and unique challenges faced by Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) especially in capacity building;
* Effective conflict and dispute prevention and resolution among water service users and dispensers within the Board’s area of jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will be offered the position of Chief Executive Officer on an initial 3-year contract renewable upon meeting agreed performance targets.
Remuneration will be dependent on the professional background, experience and recommended remuneration and benefits for the Chief Executives of the State Corporations.

Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of a Masters degree in business or finance oriented disciplines.
Advanced or Post graduate diploma in banking or microfinance.
At least ten (10) years relevant work experience, five (5) of which must have been in senior management position within the financial sector (microfinance and/or banking institution).
Clear understanding and experience of the microfinance industry.
Appreciation of MFI deposit taking and CBK regulations will be an added advantage.

- Ensuring adequate follow-up, including note-taking where required.
- Effectively maintain and develop the office calendar and its update, as well be responsible for training section/unit assistants
- At the minimum, completion of 'A' level Secondary School education, supplemented by University degree or relevant courses in Business Administration, Management and/or Project Administration. Knowledge of protocol issues.
- Six to seven years secretarial experience, at least two of which should be in an Executive Office.
- Excellent knowledge of English and the language of the duty station. Knowledge of Somali language and another United Nations working language is desirable.
- Demonstrated capacity for self-organization.
- Team work spirit is essential.
- Computer skills, including internet navigation, and various office applications.

Pursuant to its determination to create a favorable environment for investments to thrive, the Government of Kenya enacted the Anti-Counterfeit Act, 2008 being an Act of Parliament to prohibit trade in counterfeit goods.
The Act establishes the Anti-Counterfeit Agency for the purpose of enlightening and informing the public on matters relating to counterfeits; combating counterfeiting trade and other dealings in counterfeit goods in Kenya; devising and promoting training programmmes on combating counterfeits; and co-ordinanting with national, regional or international organizations involved in combating counterfeiting.
The Agency wishes to fill the position of the Executive Director as advertised below to spearhead the operationalization of the Agency in order to achieve its objectives.
Job Description
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Advising the Board on matters related to the implementation of the business of the Agency;
- Ensuring proper management of the Agency;
- Implementation of Board policies and decisions;
- Implementation of the agency’s policies in the fight against counterfeits in the country;
- Implementation of the Performance Contract signed between the Board and the Government;
- Implementation of the provisions of the Anti-Counterfeit Act, 2008;
- Co-ordinating and preparing business related proposals, reports and other submissions for consideration by the Board;
- Implementation of the relevant local, regional and international agreements to which Kenya is accredited;
- Proper management and control of the Agency’s financial and non-financial resources in an efficient and cost effective manner, in consultation with the Board, Parent Ministry and all the relevant Government agencies and stakeholders;
- Serving as the secretary to the Board of Directors; and
- Carrying out other responsibilities necessary in the achievement of the Agency’s objectives.
For appointment to the position of Executive Director, a suitable candidate must have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Social Science, Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognized institution and at least ten (10) years experience in the relevant field at a senior management level;
Or
A Masters degree in Law, Social Science, Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognized university, and at least seven (7) years experience in the relevant field at a senior management level.
A PhD will be an added advantage.

- To initiate, establish, strengthen and oversee inter-institutional collaborations and Strategic partnerships for the realization of the Hospital’s mandate and strategic objectives.
- To ensure that Hospital’s staff remain motivated to discharge their responsibilities effectively and efficiently, and in compliance with human resource management policies and practices.
- To establish and sustain effective relationships with the Board of Management, the Government, parent Ministry, regulatory bodies, partners/collaborators, funding agencies, the media, other stakeholders and staff in the interest of the Hospital and its clientele.
- To promote a culture of compliance with regulations, statutory requirements, good corporate governance principles and best practices in the Hospital.
- To participate in policy formulation for the health sector.
- To perform any other responsibilities as determined and deemed necessary by the Board of Management, in line with the Hospital’s mandate.
The successful candidate should have the following:-
- Age between 45 -55 years.
- Must be a Medical Practitioner of not less than 15 years of medical practice and duly registered by the medical practitioners and Dentists’ Board [of Kenya].
- He/she shall hold a post-graduate specialist qualification duly recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists’ Board for at least eight years.
- Considerable experience in Management and Administration in tertiary health institution of at least five [5] years.
- Certified training in Good Corporate Governance.
- Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Proficiency in Computer packages
- Must be an advocate for high quality healthcare standards, a good diplomat, team player and negotiator in order to engage others and drive Kenyatta National Hospital realize its Mission, Vision and Values.
- Additional qualifications in Management such as Masters in Business Administration [MBA], Strategic Leadership and Health Systems Management [HSM], from a recognized training institution, will be an added advantage.
