The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi Career Opportunity: Financial Counsellor

The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, a premier teaching and tertiary care referral hospital invites applications from appropriately qualified and competent individuals for a Nairobi based position of Financial Counsellor.

The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Patient Business Services, the Financial Counsellor will be the point person liaising with patients regarding all Financial queries and issues.

S/he will prepare and provide all necessary reports needed to ensure correct and accurate patient costs /bills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide estimates of various inpatient and day care treatment by forecasting based on historical data, current average charges, surgeon fees, etc;
• Review daily status report in consultation with the Credit Control staff to monitor the patients’ bills and make relevant adjustments in view of counselling done;
• Counsel patients with financial queries and issues;
• Authorize admissions with deposit after counselling;
• Counsel, evaluate and forward eligible patients to Credit Control / Welfare office by filling out patient financial evaluation form and other verbal communication updates;
• Prepare monthly reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option / or equivalent);
• Minimum two years of experience in Financial Counselling;
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
• Knowledge of medical terms and diagnosis will be an added advantage and experience in Patient Care Management will be desirable.
